Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward A Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perry comes to the cage accompanied by In Time. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry moves forwards but Murphy connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Murphy works the jab nicely.
The fighters circling - Murphy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Murphy throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Perry tumbling to the canvas!


It looks like Shawn Perry has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Murphy wants to stand but Perry is controlling his posture from full guard.

Murphy tries to bum rush Perry with a series of wild strikes but Perry uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Murphy wants to get back to his feet.
Murphy is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perry controls the position from side control.

Perry thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Perry takes a little break here. Murphy wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Perry uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Murphy.
No joy there for Murphy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Murphy throws a lazy right hand but Perry sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Perry shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Murphy's guard.

Murphy pushes Perry off and scrambles back to his feet.

Perry decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Perry is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murphy is just riding it out for now. Perry eventually gives up the hold.

Perry is pressing down on Murphy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Murphy is holding on for now.
Murphy is looking to escape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Perry steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Murphy.
Perry bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Murphy wants to try and get back to his feet.

Perry takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Perry shoots in looking for a takedown. Murphy tries to sprawl out of it but Perry keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murphy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Perry shoots for a double leg takedown but Murphy sprawls well. He's pushed Perry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Murphy is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Perry asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Murphy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Perry goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Murphy rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Perry's guard! Nice work there by Murphy!

Perry wants to sweep here but Murphy controlling him for the moment.

Perry shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Murphy napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Murphy pushes Perry away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Perry gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Perry misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
