PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Minatay Mibangon (ranked 23916 p4p, 23905 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 51 - 9, fighting out of Las Vegas, Minatay Mibangon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 47 - 48 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nada dives in for a single leg takedown but Mibangon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mibangon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mibangon wants it to stay on the feet.

Nada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mibangon is looking for a sweep.
Nada working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee asks Nada politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nada prefers to stall for the moment though.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Mibangon gets caught napping as Nada dives in and scores a takedown. Mibangon manages to retain guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nada slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mibangon is adopting a defensive guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mibangon is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mibangon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nada was covering up waiting for the punch and Mibangon finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada pulls Mibangon in close to his closed guard and prevents Mibangon from doing any damage or advancing position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nada drives through with a takedown into Mibangon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Mibangon is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mibangon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nada throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mibangon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mibangon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mibangon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nada is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nada content to stall in guard here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Nada closes the distance and clinches up with Mibangon, looking for a takedown. Nada pushes Mibangon against the cage but Mibangon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mibangon moves out of range as Nada throws a body kick.
Nada has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nada fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nada defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mibangon.
Nada is looking for the big counter here.

Mibangon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nada looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Nada is looking to regain half guard here but Mibangon keeps moving and retains side control.
Mibangon in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Nada is not content to let Mibangon control the position.
Mibangon in side control, just content to control the action for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mibangon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nada keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mibangon controls the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Nada shoots in looking for a takedown. Mibangon tries to sprawl out of it but Nada keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mibangon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mibangon quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Mibangon gets a double leg takedown into Nada's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada is pulling down on Mibangon's head. It's preventing any offense from Mibangon, at least for the moment.
Mibangon slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Way Nada has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mibangon trying to control the position from guard on top but Nada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nada is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mibangon wants to control from the top but Nada keeps moving.
Nada looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mibangon content to stall in guard here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mibangon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nada is trying to defend but Mibangon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Nada is controlling Mibangon's position as best he can from this difficult position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mibangon in particular looking to stall.
Minatay Mibangon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Way Nada is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Minatay Mibangon showed his dominance in that final round.
