Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutten comes to the cage accompanied by You call my name. The key to victory for Bas Rutten has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman shoots in looking for a takedown. Rutten tries to sprawl out of it but Coleman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rutten manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Coleman looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Rutten rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coleman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rutten throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Rutten tries to close the distance and clinch up but Coleman swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Coleman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Coleman.
Rutten lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Coleman!
Rutten manages to capitalize on a mistake by Coleman to take his back!

Rutten is really struggling to control Coleman but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rutten is not going to allow Coleman to sit and survive in this position.

Rutten is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Coleman defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Coleman prevents Rutten from getting a body triangle.
Rutten wants to control the position but Coleman frees himself and scrambles - Rutten manages to regain control in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rutten fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Coleman manages to avoid it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Coleman slips a jab and a cross from Rutten.
Coleman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rutten moves into the clinch.

A close round but Mark Coleman will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

so Coleman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rutten utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Coleman advances position into side control!
Coleman is staying tight to Rutten's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Rutten tries to buck Coleman off but Coleman is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rutten sneaks back into half guard.

Rutten tries to kick Coleman off but Coleman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Coleman wants to stand but Rutten has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Coleman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Coleman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Coleman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rutten's head.
Rutten is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Coleman scores with a couple of nice shots.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Coleman shoots and misses

and Rutten holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rutten taking a breather.

Rutten has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Coleman uses from the top position.

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rutten won't be happy with that.

Mark Coleman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rutten takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Coleman is nestled in close to Rutten, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rutten pushes Coleman off looking to stand but Coleman dives back in and keeps control.

Coleman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Rutten is looking for a sweep. Coleman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Coleman connects with a nice short shot to Rutten's temple.
Coleman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mark Coleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rutten is trying to control. Coleman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rutten is looking to stall here but Coleman recovers full guard.

Coleman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
