Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Nurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martti Aho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nurmi comes to the cage accompanied by Who Let the Dogs out. On his way into the cage it seems that Fernando Nurmi has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Fernando Nurmi seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Martti Aho!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aho scores with a shot to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Aho misses the target.

Nurmi tries to keep at a distance but Aho has taken the fight into the clinch.
Nurmi lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Martti Aho has been cut.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aho tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nurmi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nurmi closes the distance and clinches up with Aho, looking for a takedown. Nurmi pushes Aho against the cage but Aho circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Aho swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nurmi slips a jab and a cross from Aho.
Aho scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Aho throws a series of punches but Nurmi moves out of range.
Aho looks to land a combination but Nurmi avoids it well.

Aho looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Aho circles away from the clinch attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nurmi.

Aho tries to bum rush Nurmi with a series of wild strikes but Nurmi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Aho will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nurmi darts in and clinches Aho up against the cage.

Aho wants to get back to striking at distance but Nurmi won't allow it.

Nurmi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Aho just stands there and leans against the cage.

Aho avoids a wild elbow strike from Nurmi.
Nurmi tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Aho avoids it.
Aho is trying to break the clinch but Nurmi is controlling him.
Aho can't break the clinch.
Nurmi is trying to stall.
Aho has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Nurmi is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Aho can't fight it off and eventually Nurmi manages to take the fight to the floor. Aho looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nurmi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aho swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nurmi won't allow Aho to get back to his feet.

Nurmi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aho, who protects the arm well.
Aho is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Nurmi is controlling him well.
Aho defending against the ground and pound.
Aho pushes Nurmi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Nurmi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Nurmi is trying to get an arm triangle but Aho is defending well.
Aho is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nurmi asserts his dominance and retains side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nurmi looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Aho is avoiding damage well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nurmi misses with a takedown attempt - Aho sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nurmi gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Aho.
Nurmi slips under a jab.
Nice body punch from Aho.

Nurmi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Nurmi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Aho sees it coming and defends easily.

Nurmi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Aho defends it well.

Aho kicks off Nurmi and gets to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aho scores with a nice head shot.
Aho scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Aho throws a series of punches but Nurmi moves out of range.
Nurmi tries for a takedown but Aho sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Aho is looking to clinch but Nurmi is avoiding it.
Aho scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martti Aho dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nurmi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Aho tests Nurmi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Nurmi takes one to the side of the head.
Aho looks to score with a jab to the body but Nurmi is just out of range.
Nurmi fails with an attempt to clinch.
A nice combination there by Aho.

Fernando Nurmi's cut is getting worse.
Nurmi on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Oh Nurmi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Aho dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Aho cracks Nurmi with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Nurmi falls to his knees and Aho doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Martti Aho!
