Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Irong Kasamsun (ranked 488 p4p, 728 weight class) and Curtis Rome (ranked 62 p4p, 85 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Irong Kasamsun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rome fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rome throws the left hand but Kasamsun avoids the punch easily.
A little feinted left hand from Kasamsun on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kasamsun lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rome backs up against the cage.
Kasamsun misses with a left hand
and Rome connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kasamsun misses with an uppercut. Rome saw that one coming.

Rome moves into the clinch.
Kasamsun drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rome pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kasamsun scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kasamsun throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kasamsun throws a shot from downtown. Rome moves away and avoids it.

Rome closes the distance and clinches up with Kasamsun, looking for a takedown. Rome pushes Kasamsun against the cage but Kasamsun circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rome takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kasamsun throws a hook but Rome blocks it.

Rome defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kasamsun.
Rome misses with a looping left.
Kasamsun thows a left - swing and a miss!
Rome goes for a double leg but Kasamsun avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kasamsun continues to drive forward.

Irong Kasamsun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Rome.
Rome looks for a takedown but Kasamsun sprawls well.
Kasamsun comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

We've been told by Kasamsun's head coaches at Gumburcules Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Rome closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rome is pressing down on Kasamsun's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kasamsun is holding on for now.

Rome is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kasamsun defends it well.

Rome is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kasamsun sees it coming and defends easily.

Rome works his foot free and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rome swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kasamsun is now in Rome's guard. A big mistake from Rome there, giving up the dominant position!

Kasamsun avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kasamsun cracks Rome with a solid left hand.
Kasamsun is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Our spies down at at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies inform us that Rome has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kasamsun got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rome has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kasamsun has managed to get both his arms back between Rome's legs - danger averted.

Rome is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kasamsun defends well.

Kasamsun slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rome tries to get back to half guard but can't.
A lull in the action here as Kasamsun stalls from top position.
Rome is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kasamsun off and has taken his back!

Rome is looking for a choke. Kasamsun gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Kasamsun manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Kasamsun is stalling in the full guard.

Rome is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kasamsun is aware though and is defending well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A lazy left from Kasamsun finds it's target.

Kasamsun shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rome as he avoids it easily.

Rome is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Kasamsun stuffs the takedown.
Kasamsun is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rome can do to turn this around?
Kasamsun throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rome throws out a counter right but Kasamsun avoids it with no problem.
Rome shoots in looking for a takedown. Kasamsun tries to sprawl out of it but Rome keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kasamsun manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rome throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Kasamsun wants to control from the top but Rome keeps moving.

Rome lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kasamsun has Rome pulled in close to control his posture.

Rome looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rome is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Rome is looking to pass Kasamsun's guard but actually Kasamsun recovers to full guard.
Rome stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kasamsun swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kasamsun seems keen to control Rome's posture.
Kasamsun is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are battling for position here. Rome manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Rome is looking for a triangle but Kasamsun pushes his legs off easily.

Rome had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kasamsun defends it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kasamsun is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kasamsun ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Rome changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kasamsun looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rome tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rome is looking to take a break and control but Kasamsun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rome is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kasamsun is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Rome wants to control for a moment but Kasamsun uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Kasamsun seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Irong Kasamsun overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rome has his foot on Kasamsun's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kasamsun works his way back into a safe position though.

Irong Kasamsun showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kasamsun, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
