Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marc Horton (ranked 5276 p4p, 24217 weight class) and Melvin Tate (ranked 430 p4p, 472 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marc Horton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Melvin Tate! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horton has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tate finds it's way round the side to connect with Horton's head. Melvin Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Horton moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Tate takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Horton throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Tate closes the distance and lands a one-two. Horton throws a jab when Tate was well out of range. A little jabbing left from Tate on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. A nice leg kick from Horton, right into the meat of the thigh.
Horton throws out a leg kick but Tate moves out of range and Horton only half commits. Horton feints and as Tate raises his hands in defense, Horton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Horton trying to control but Tate is working from the bottom. Horton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Horton with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horton controlling from the top position. Tate keeping full guard, as Horton tries to pass. Tate avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Tate misses with a double jab.
Horton looks to throw a body kick and Tate counters with a series of strikes. Horton will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tate fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tate throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Tate throws a nice looking combination but Horton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Horton half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Tate throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Horton tried to score with a low kick but Tate checks it. An inside leg kick lands from Horton. Horton dodges the punch combination from Tate.
Horton misses with a leg kick. Tate swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
This has been an exciting period of action! Tate connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Tate blocks a head kick by Horton.
Horton throws the left hand but Tate avoids the punch easily. Tate moves out of range as Horton throws a body kick.
Tate throws a right hand that Horton ducks under and follows up with a left that Horton also avoids with ease. Horton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Horton lands in his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horton makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Horton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Horton pushing down on Tate's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Horton is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate is in trouble now - Horton has advanced to mount! Horton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tate has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Horton wants to control the pace but Tate is squirming around nicely. Horton looking to finish with strikes here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Tate is squirming around, avoiding Horton's attempts to control the action. Horton landing strikes, looking to finish! Horton looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Horton goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Tate is on top in guard.
Tate stopping the sweep attempt from Horton. Horton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Horton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Tate being controlled here momentarily. Horton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tate's guard. Horton wants to control from the top but Tate keeps moving. Horton working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tate's head. Horton throwing strikes from guard but Tate blocks nicely. Horton's corner is telling him to maintain position. Tate looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Horton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Horton stays in close to Tate's body and controls the position. Horton tries to free his leg and advance position but Tate is retaining full guard. Horton passes Tate's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Horton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Horton not doing much here.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Horton uses his free foot to push down on Tate's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tate. Tate wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Horton.
Horton throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tate because Horton loaded up on that one. Tate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Horton scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Tate?
Horton jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Tate is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Tate and Horton has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Horton lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Horton wants to control but Tate is keeping him busy. Horton throws a strike aimed at the side of Tate's head but Tate avoids it well. Horton controlling the position. Horton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tate keeps working. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Marc Horton dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Tate looks to land a combination but Horton avoids it well. Tate looks to throw the jab but Horton is out of range. Tate throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Tate throws a combination that misses and Horton counters with a shoot takedown. Tate fights it but they end up in guard. Tate is looking to stand back up but Horton counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Tate. Horton is pressing down on Tate's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tate is holding on for now. Horton thows a huge punch but Tate dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horton stalling. Horton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tate can do to turn this around? Horton landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice strikes from Horton there. Horton trying to control the pace. Horton has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Tate is staying active underneath Horton, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Horton uses his free foot to push down on Tate's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tate. Horton looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tate has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Horton raining down hammerfists from mount. Horton has control of Tate's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Tate regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Horton trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horton scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Tate wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Horton is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tate has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tate! Marc Horton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Horton looking for a guillotine here but Tate defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Horton is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Tate has his hands clasped together but Horton extends and breaks Tate's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Horton.
