Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Karl Stienz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ty Bishop! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stienz closes the distance and clinches. Stienz working hard to break the clinch. Stienz has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Bishop is trying to keep an underhook but Stienz manages to get the takedown into half guard. Bishop tries to get to full guard but Stienz has control of the leg. Stienz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bishop is looking for a sweep. Stienz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bishop is still trying to improve position. Stienz trying to mount his opponent but Bishop defends it. Stienz wants to control but Bishop is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stienz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bishop defending well though. Stienz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Stienz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Stienz prevents Bishop from improving his position. Stienz tries to pass to full mount but Bishop defends it. Bishop really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stienz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bishop is refusing to be controlled, as Stienz sits in half guard. Stienz not doing much here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bishop won't allow Stienz to pass to mount. Stienz wants to take a breather but Bishop is having none of it. Bishop is looking to escape. Stienz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Stienz seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Bishop is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
