Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shunji Nishida (ranked 4525 p4p, 5489 weight class) and Josh Lewis (ranked 437 p4p, 478 weight class). Josh Lewis will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis rushes Nishida and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Lewis is trying to stall.

Lewis decides to pull guard.
Lewis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nishida tries to free his leg and advance position but Lewis is retaining full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Nishida wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.
Lewis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lewis pulls Nishida in to control the position.
Nishida trying to control the position from guard on top but Lewis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nishida stops Lewis from standing up.
Lewis is trying to keep Nishida in close.
Lewis wants to get back to his feet but Nishida is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Lewis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lewis showed some decent athleticism there.

Lewis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nishida is trying to get back to full guard.

Lewis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nishida's head.

Lewis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nishida is just riding it out for now. Lewis eventually gives up the hold.
Nishida might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Nishida has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lewis is working away from the top position though.

Lewis is trying to control the action in half guard but Nishida is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lewis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nishida is looking to stall here but Lewis recovers full guard.

Lewis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Nishida postures up.
Lewis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nishida haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Lewis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nishida is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lewis avoids the head kick by Nishida.
Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch but Nishida swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lewis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lewis lands in his opponent's guard.
Lewis won't allow Nishida to sweep him here.
Nishida is trying to control the position but Lewis postures up.
Lewis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nishida swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nishida is trying to keep Lewis in close.

Nishida working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lewis.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Nishida looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Nishida escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lewis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nishida tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nishida keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.
Nishida wants to sweep but no luck.
Nishida lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lewis throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Nishida looking to pass the guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lewis is on top in guard.


Lewis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.

Nishida has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lewis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nishida bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lewis's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lewis pushes Nishida off and gets back to his feet.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nishida napping and manages to drive through into side control!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Josh Lewis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Lewis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Nishida is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lewis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lewis's back!

Nishida is cranking Lewis's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Lewis! He's tightened the choke and Lewis is tapping out!
