Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ross Kay (ranked 3411 p4p, 4346 weight class) and Jun Morimoto (ranked 369 p4p, 425 weight class). Ross Kay has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Kay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jun Morimoto! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Morimoto avoids it really well and circles away. Morimoto is looking for the big counter here. Morimoto feints a jab promting Kay to slip. Morimoto then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kay slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like Ross Kay has been cut. Kay takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
A slapping leg kick lands for Morimoto.
No luck for Kay with that takedown attempt. Kay takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Kay shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Morimoto swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ross Kay. That's going to take a lot out of him. Morimoto stuffs the takedown. Kay fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Morimoto is looking to slow Kay down with leg kicks. Jun Morimoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morimoto scores with a jab to the head.
Morimoto tests Kay's chin there with a solid looking shot. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kay. Kay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Morimoto's waist but Morimoto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kay off to one side. Morimoto lands a nice shot to the body.
Morimoto throws a series of strikes that have Kay backpedaling.
Kay walks into a stiff left hand from Morimoto. Kay will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Morimoto scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Kay throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Morimoto's waist but Morimoto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kay off to one side. Morimoto is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kay with a body shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kay fails to land the takedown. Morimoto throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kay on the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morimoto leaves Kay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kay on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Morimoto has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Morimoto fakes the leg kick and cracks Kay in the body. Morimoto throws a leg kick which misses Kay's front leg but catches the back leg as Kay tries to avoid it. Kay looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Morimoto! Morimoto is trying to improve his position. Kay is looking to take a break and control but Morimoto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kay landing a few strikes. Morimoto tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Morimoto is not content to let Kay control the position. Kay working the head and body with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kay scoring with punches from side control. Morimoto tries to improve position but can't. Kay cracks Morimoto with a big elbow. Kay cracks Morimoto with an elbow. That is naaassty. Morimoto is looking to reverse the position. Kay tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kay has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Morimoto can't do much from the bottom here. Morimoto is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Kay is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kay lands strikes from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kay is looking to take a break and control but Morimoto is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Morimoto is looking to control Kay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Morimoto avoid being mounted? Kay prevents Morimoto from improving his position. Morimoto is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kay scores with a couple of nice shots. Kay is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Morimoto has hold of Kay's hands but Kay slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Morimoto wants to get back to full guard. Kay lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Morimoto is looking for a sweep. Kay is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kay slips a nice elbow through Morimoto's hands, connecting with Morimoto's forehead.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kay working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kay passes to full mount! Morimoto is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kay is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Morimoto can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Morimoto is rocked! Kay wants to finish this one by submission but Morimoto is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kay. Morimoto is still in real trouble! Can Kay finish him? Morimoto can't escape the position.
Kay cracks Morimoto with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ross Kay!
