Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John O Dowd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joel Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Dowd shoots in but Gomez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
O Dowd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
O Dowd displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomez.
O Dowd wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Gomez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gomez lands in his opponent's guard.
O Dowd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gomez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
O Dowd throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
O Dowd looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gomez is one step ahead there.
Gomez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gomez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gomez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gomez stands and throws O Dowd's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
O Dowd is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gomez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

O Dowd tries to improve his position but Gomez has taken his back! Gomez has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will O Dowd tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gomez pushes O Dowd away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
