Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Topf Deckel (ranked 1547 p4p, 2192 weight class) and Tapani Kangas (ranked 166 p4p, 228 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Topf Deckel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tapani Kangas! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deckel showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kangas.
Kangas lands a lovely overhand right. Deckel displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kangas throws out the jab. Deckel is looking for a counter combo. Good shot there by Kangas. Deckel swings for the body but Kangas moves out of range.
Kangas plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Deckel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kangas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Deckel takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Deckel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kangas. Kangas throws the left hand but Deckel avoids the punch easily. Deckel swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deckel shoots in but Kangas avoids the takedown attempt easily. Deckel takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Kangas throws a shot to the body.
Kangas moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Tapani Kangas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kangas misses with a looping right. Deckel tries to move into range but Kangas moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Deckel takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Deckel looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Kangas is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Deckel had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Deckel avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Kangas throws a head kick that misses. Deckel has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Deckel there as he acknowledges the shot. Horrible takedown attempt by Deckel or perhaps it was just good defense by Kangas, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Topf Deckel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Deckel with a poor takedown and Kangas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Deckel walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Kangas wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Tapani Kangas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kangas with a hook. Nice shot by Kangas. Kangas clobbers Deckel with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Deckel takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Deckel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kangas lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Kangas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kangas connects with a body shot that sends Deckel's belly button to the back. Deckel defending well as Kangas loads up on a big left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kangas takes a swing at Deckel's ribcage but misses. Kangas scores with a jab. Kangas throws an overhand right that lands on Deckel's shoulder, as Deckel tries to avoid the shot. Deckel keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kangas. Kangas throws a big shot that misses. A quick step to the side and Deckel tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Deckel uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kangas. Kangas gets caught napping as Deckel dives in and scores a takedown. Kangas manages to retain guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kangas keeping moving, preventing Deckel from controlling successfully. Deckel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Deckel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Deckel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tapani Kangas dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Kangas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Deckel. It looked like Deckel was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kangas. Kangas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Deckel on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Kangas misses with an uppercut. Deckel doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kangas counters with a left to the body. A chopping leg kick lands by Kangas. Kangas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Deckel defending well as Kangas loads up on a big left hand. Deckel was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Kangas darts in and clinches Deckel up against the cage. Deckel prevents a body shot from Kangas. Kangas fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Kangas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Deckel fails with a takedown attempt. Deckel misses the shot to the body. Deckel takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Deckel looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Deckel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kangas. Kangas connects with a body shot. Kangas swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Deckel. Topf Deckel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kangas dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kangas tests Deckel's chin there with a solid looking shot. Deckel avoids a punch combination nicely.

Deckel is looking to wear down Kangas with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Deckel goes for a double leg but Kangas avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kangas continues to drive forward. Kangas lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Deckel backwards. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Deckel has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kangas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Kangas lands a hook that snaps the head of Deckel backwards. Kangas manages to break the clinch.
Kangas misses with a straight right. Deckel went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Deckel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Kangas misses with a wild body shot. An inside leg kick lands from Kangas. Deckel with a poor takedown and Kangas counters with a nice low kick that buckles Deckel's knee momentarily. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tapani Kangas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round! Kangas scores with a sloppy right hand. Deckel should have avoided that one. Deckel drops his hands momentarily and Kangas takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nice uppercut lands for Kangas. That snapped Deckel's head back.
Kangas has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Deckel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kangas defends it nicely. That kick from Kangas tenderised Deckel's leg. Deckel is trying to keep his angry face on. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Deckel uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kangas. Kangas lands with a right hand. Kangas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Deckel swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Deckel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kangas misses with a left hand and Deckel counters with a lovely shot to the body. Kangas lands with a slapping head kick. A slapping body kick lands there for Kangas. Deckel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kangas was well out of range. Poor timing from Deckel. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kangas! But no joy. Deckel avoids the body shot from Kangas.
Deckel throws a right hand that Kangas ducks under and follows up with a left that Kangas also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kangas with a body punch. A glancing blow. Kangas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
It looked like Deckel wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Deckel throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kangas makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Deckel doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kangas counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Kangas misses with a straight left. Kangas dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Deckel. That did some damage! Kangas jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Kangas looks to score with a jab to the body but Deckel is just out of range. Deckel takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kangas gets caught napping as Deckel dives in and scores a takedown. Kangas manages to retain guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deckel stands and throws Kangas's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kangas gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Deckel moves into full mount! Kangas won't be happy about that! Kangas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deckel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Deckel wants to control the action but instead Kangas gets a body lock and reverses into Deckel's guard! Nice work! Deckel seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Kangas trying to control but Deckel is working from the bottom. Kangas looking to sit in guard and control but Deckel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Tapani Kangas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Deckel works a leg free and moves into half guard. Deckel looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Deckel content to control rather than advance. Deckel wants to control but Kangas is keeping him busy. Topf Deckel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Deckel gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
And that's the end of the fight! Tapani Kangas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Kangas winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
