Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tomomi Tsuruta (ranked 2424 p4p, 2538 weight class) and Kalle Kula (ranked 280 p4p, 293 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomomi Tsuruta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalle Kula!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kula is looking to clinch but Tsuruta is avoiding it.
Decent striking displayed by Tsuruta there.
Tsuruta dips to his left and cracks Kula with an uppercut!

Tsuruta drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Tsuruta stops Kula from standing up.
Tsuruta postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tsuruta is in close to Kula's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Kula keeping full guard, as Tsuruta tries to pass.
Tsuruta won't allow Kula to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tsuruta connects with a nice short shot to Kula's temple.

Kula felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tsuruta seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kula for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tsuruta, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
