PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 23725 p4p, 23986 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Higanti Libat has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 55 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 48 - 48 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Libat slaps away a takedown attempt from Nada, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Libat throws a quick counter kick to the body but Nada avoids it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Nada enables Libat to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Nada manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada has Libat pulled in close to control his posture.
Libat postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Libat keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nada's head.
Libat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Libat's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Nada is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Libat's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Nada displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Libat.
Nada misses with a takedown
and Libat counters with a nice kick to the body.

Nada drives through with a takedown into guard.
Libat pulls Nada in close to prevent any damage.
Nada seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nada trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Libat shoots in and drives through. Nada sprawls well.
Nada is trying to counter with his kicks.
Libat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Libat wants it to stay on the feet.

Nada throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Libat tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nada is in Libat's guard.
Libat is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nada sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Libat tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nada is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nada darts in looking for a takedown but Libat gets double underhooks and turns Nada into the cage.
And Libat counters with a quick kick to the body but Nada blocks it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Libat or perhaps it was just good defense by Nada, which made it look bad.
Nada raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada shoots in for a takedown but Libat shows good takedown defense.
Higanti Libat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.

Libat shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nada is trying to defend but Libat finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Libat is keen to just control but Nada is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Libat in particular looking to stall.
Nada is looking to improve his position.
Nada holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Libat content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Higanti Libat will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Nada shoots in looking for a takedown. Libat tries to sprawl out of it but Nada keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Libat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nada looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Libat!

Libat is trying to control Nada's posture but Nada avoids it.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nada trying to control the position but Libat is working away.

Libat is looking for a sweep.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Libat looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Nada has his hands on Libat's head, controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Libat is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Way Nada has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Higanti Libat is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I would just about give that final round to Way Nada.
Well Libat has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
