Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Messiah Wyatt (ranked 5466 p4p, 5298 weight class) and Boston Mathis (ranked 484 p4p, 475 weight class). Mathis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dropkick Murphuys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Boston Mathis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Messiah Wyatt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boston Mathis! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wyatt gets a double leg takedown into Mathis's guard. Wyatt is in close to Mathis's body, working some short punches and elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mathis pulls Wyatt in to control the position. Mathis wants to get back to his feet but Wyatt is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Wyatt looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wyatt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mathis for as long as he can get away with. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wyatt scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Wyatt is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wyatt wants to pass the guard but Mathis is keeping the position. Wyatt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wyatt looking to pass the guard. Wyatt engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Wyatt throws a big elbow that misses. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wyatt's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Mathis wants to stand and escape but Wyatt is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wyatt postures up in Mathis's guard and throws a big left but Mathis blocks it. Wyatt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Wyatt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mathis is keeping the position for now. Mathis is trying to keep Wyatt in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Mathis looks for a takedown but Wyatt sprawls well. Wyatt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wyatt lands in his opponent's guard. Mathis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wyatt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wyatt lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wyatt lands a couple of elbows. Mathis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Wyatt cracks Mathis with a solid left hand. Wyatt sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mathis's guard. Wyatt wants to free his trapped foot but Mathis is holding on for dear life with his legs. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mathis is trying to stand back up but Wyatt is controlling him
Mathis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Mathis blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wyatt. Wyatt slows the pace down in half guard. Wyatt works his foot free and advances to mount. Mathis is bucking up trying to escape but Wyatt cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wyatt is landing with some decent strikes but Mathis is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Wyatt raining down hammerfists from mount. Wyatt throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Mathis has his hands clasped together but Wyatt breaks the hold and Mathis is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Wyatt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Messiah Wyatt! A relieved looking Messiah Wyatt thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Boston Mathis spoke after the fight, saying 'I'll be back.'.
