PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jihadi John (ranked 4217 p4p, 3468 weight class) and Otto Stollar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Otto Stollar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jihadi John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Otto Stollar!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John works the jab nicely.
John throws an off balance right hand

and Stollar counters with a left and a right that hurts John! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Stollar jumps into full mount!
John is squirming around, avoiding Stollar's attempts to control the action.
John tries to reverse the position but Stollar maintains control.

John defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Stollar.
John doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?
John regains half guard.
Stollar wants to control but John is keeping him busy.
John tries to roll over but Stollar keeps him under control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stollar is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John is concentrating on defense, preventing Stollar from advancing position.
John trying to control from the bottom.
Stollar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
John is trying to get back to full guard.
John on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if John tries to get out of the position.
John is working hard here to advance position.
Stollar wants to stand up but John has a hold of him and won't allow it.
John has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stollar is working away from the top position though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stollar wants to stand but John has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stollar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stollar fails in his attempt to clinch.
John shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stollar pinned against the cage. Stollar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stollar has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jihadi John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John slips a jab and a cross from Stollar.
Stollar shoots for a takedown but John saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A punch lands to the side of Stollar 's head but he takes it in his stride.
John catches Stollar with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Jab, jab by Stollar - just one landing.
John misses with an uppercut. Stollar saw that one coming.
Stollar looks to score with a jab to the body but John is just out of range.
John swings for the body but Stollar moves out of range.
Stollar steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from John.
A decent looking cross lands there for John.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
John takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Stollar scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Jihadi John has been cut.
Stollar fails with an attempt to clinch.
John half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

John scores with a takedown into Stollar's guard.

Stollar pushes John off and gets back to his feet.
John lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A swing and a miss from Stollar.
John feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Stollars jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Stollar tries to clinch but John moves out of range.
Stollar steps to the side to avoid the strikes from John.
Stollar tries to close the distance and clinch up but John swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A looping hook to the body misses from John. Stollar does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stollar let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stollar avoids the body shot from John.
A lazy left from John finds it's target.
Stollar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but John manages to avoid it.
Stollar throws a right hand that John ducks under and follows up with a left that John also avoids with ease.

Stollar has closed the distance and engaged John in a clinch.
Stollar throws an elbow that misses.

Stollar pulls John into guard.
John with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
John passes into half guard.
John thows a huge punch but Stollar dodges it nicely.
John looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stollar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Stollar is staying active underneath John, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stollar makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Otto Stollar dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jihadi John's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

John misses with a hook.

Stollar clinches up against the cage.
John drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
John is trying to pull guard but Stollar has him pressed against the cage.
John tries to pull guard but Stollar forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jihadi John. That's going to take a lot out of him.
John tries for a takedown but Stollar manages to get underhooks.
John fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Stollar is pressed up against the cage. John has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Stollar down to the mat. Stollar avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Stollar fails in his attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stollar slips a jab from John.
Stollar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
John takes a swing at Stollar's ribcage but misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from John.
John is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Stollar just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! John has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Otto Stollar!
