Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yao Ming (ranked 5519 p4p, 4703 weight class) and Ian Pedrinho (ranked 496 p4p, 464 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yao Ming! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian Pedrinho! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
![](https://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/round1.jpg) The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Ming misses. Pedrinho attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Pedrinho lands a nice shot to the body.
A jab from Ming does it's job there. Ming lands with a cross. A slow jab from Ming misses its intended target. A swing and a miss from Ming. Pedrinho drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ming defends it well. Ming slips a jab from Pedrinho. Ming is looking for a counter combo. Ming throws a right and a left that Pedrinho avoids nicely. Pedrinho misses with a leg kick. Pedrinho throws a predictable looking body shot
and Ming counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Pedrinho walks into a straight right hand from Ming. Ming is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ming swings for the body but Pedrinho moves out of range.
Pedrinho scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ming in his tracks. Pedrinho misses with a wild body shot.
Pedrinho rushes Ming and presses him up against the cage. Pedrinho pushes Ming back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. I was talking to Ming's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. A right handed body shot lands from Pedrinho.
Pedrinho softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Ming lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Ming lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pedrinho backwards. Ming lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Ming tries a knee to the head but Pedrinho blocks it.
Pedrinho jumps into guard, dragging Ming to the mat.
Pedrinho lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Pedrinho works a leg free and moves into half guard. Pedrinho lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Pedrinho is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ming is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ian Pedrinho!
