This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 4 losses; Jisoo Oh! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Oh forces Kersikov back against the cage and clinches. Oh gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kersikov.
Oh is working for takedown but Kersikov is calmly controlling the position for now. Kersikov is looking to take this one to the mat. Oh is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kersikov can't fight it off and eventually Oh manages to take the fight to the floor. Kersikov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. We've been hearing good reports from Kersikov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oh sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kersikov's guard.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Kersikov is looking for the choke from the back position but Oh is controlling his hands well. Oh is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kersikov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Kersikov is working away from the top position though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kersikov in particular looking to stall. Kersikov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Oh for as long as he can get away with.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Oh has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kersikov is working away from the top position though. Kersikov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kersikov passes to full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Kersikov (7) vs (2) Oh
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Kersikov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Oh prevents Kersikov from taking his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kersikov looking to control and managing it successfully.

And that's the end of the fight! Kersikov takes the fight on points by 10 to 2. A relieved looking Bogdan Kersikov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
