Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Couture (ranked 3334 p4p, 3223 weight class) and James Xu (ranked 339 p4p, 330 weight class). Xu has chosen Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Xu!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xu on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Xu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Couture fails with an attempt to clinch.
Couture buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Xu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Couture was well out of range. Poor timing from Xu.
Couture avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Couture misses with a right hand
and Xu counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Xu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Couture dives on top into guard.
Xu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Couture is aware though and is defending well.

Xu throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Couture escapes and throws Xu's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Couture is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Xu's shoulder. That is not cool.

Couture gets to mount! Xu was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Xu slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Xu is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Couture pulls his head out easily.

Couture wants to control but Xu is keeping him busy.

Xu is looking for a sweep. Couture is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Couture's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We've been informed that Xu has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Xu is desperately trying to improve his position but Couture has a good base and remains in mount.
Couture manages to capitalize on a mistake by Xu to take his back!
Xu tries to escape but Couture has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Xu turns into Couture and is now in his guard.
Xu has gone for a leg lock! Couture slips out almost immediately though and dives into Xu's guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Couture connects with a right hand. Xu shakes it off.
Couture definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Couture is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Xu can do to turn this around?
Xu scores with a jab. Couture acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Xu counters with a nice double leg into side control. Couture won't be happy with that.
Xu goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Couture rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Xu's guard! Nice work there by Couture!
