Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jad Mabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar De la Hoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mabe comes to the cage accompanied by Haste the Day - Mad Man. Jad Mabe has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De la Hoya looks to score with a jab to the body but Mabe is just out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mabe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
De la Hoya will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mabe is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Mabe lands with a nice combination. De la Hoya backs away looking to recover.
Jad Mabe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De la Hoya misses with a wild body shot.

De la Hoya is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mabe.

De la Hoya wants to get back to striking at distance but Mabe won't allow it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and De la Hoya counters with a right hand that sends Mabe tumbling to the canvas! Can De la Hoya finish him? He dives into Mabe's guard looking to do just that!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De la Hoya slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
De la Hoya won't allow Mabe to sweep him here.
Mabe wants to stand but De la Hoya is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
De la Hoya controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

De la Hoya throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mabe takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Mabe.
Mabe scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Mabe takes a jab right on the kisser.

Mabe closes the distance and clinches.
De la Hoya makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Mabe misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mabe lands a nice elbow.
De la Hoya lands with a left to the head.
Mabe lands an elbow inside that De la Hoya shrugs off.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mabe just misses with a elbow thrown towards De la Hoya's brow.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

De la Hoya pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mabe with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling De la Hoya to score with a decent uppercut.

and De la Hoya counters with a left and a right that hurts Mabe! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! De la Hoya jumps into full mount!
Oh Mabe is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
De la Hoya controlling the pace for now.
Mabe seems to have got his legs back now.
Let's hope that De la Hoya has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Mabe is wriggling around trying to escape.

Mabe wants to hold on but De la Hoya pushes him away.
De la Hoya tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
You get the feeling that Mabe really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Mabe is desperately trying to improve his position but De la Hoya has a good base and remains in mount.
Mabe is working hard here to advance position.
Mabe looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
De la Hoya is not going to allow Mabe to sit and survive in this position.
De la Hoya is riding his opponent, not letting Mabe buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oscar De la Hoya showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

De la Hoya drops Mabe with a nice combination! De la Hoya dives into Mabe's guard, looking to finish!
Mabe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. De la Hoya manages to get himself to full guard.
