Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Burg Gers (ranked 2387 p4p, 2379 weight class) and Bryan Williams (ranked 238 p4p, 237 weight class). Williams has chosen Bad Moon Rising - Credence Clearwater Revival as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Burg Gers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bryan Williams! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gers throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Williams counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Williams drops an elbow to the side of Gers's head. Williams is pressing down on Gers's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gers is holding on for now. Williams trying to control the pace. Gers looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Williams is thwarting Gers's attempts to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gers controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Gers moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gers keeping full guard, as Williams tries to pass. Williams slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Williams prevents Gers from getting back to his feet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gers wants to stand up but Williams is controlling him. Gers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gers wants to get back to his feet but Williams is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gers gets off balance looking for a body kick and Williams counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Williams. Williams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Williams trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Williams looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gers is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Williams is controlling him. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gers tries to get out of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams scoring with punches to the head and body. Williams postures up in Gers's guard and throws a big left but Gers blocks it. Gers is working hard here to advance position. Gers wants to improve his position but instead Williams has moved into half guard.

Williams is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Williams working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Williams passes to full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Williams lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Gers is looking to improve his position but Williams isn't that keen on the idea. Williams controlling the position easily from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Williams lands a couple of good shots and Gers has given up his back, trying to escape the position! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bryan Williams dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. A low kick from Gers is predictable there and Williams counters with a takedown into side control. Gers is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Gers is not content to let Williams control the position. Williams throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Gers works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Gers trying to control from the bottom.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gers with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Gers wants to get back to full guard. Gers taking some punishment here, with Williams in his half guard. Gers pushes Williams off looking to stand but Williams dives back in and keeps control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Williams is working for a kimura but Gers is defending it quite comfortably.
Gers is doing well to control the position and prevent Williams from advancing to side control. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Williams connects with a nice short shot to Gers's temple. Gers gets full guard. Bryan Williams has got the better of the ground game so far. Williams advances to half guard. Gers tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg. Gers wants to get back to his feet.

Oh Gers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Gers is bucking up trying to escape but Williams cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Williams content just to control the position here. Williams tries to control but Gers wriggling away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bryan Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! A low kick from Gers misses and Williams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Burg Gers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Williams takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Gers seems to have got his legs back now. Williams trying to mount his opponent but Gers defends it. Gers actively working from the bottom here. Gers tries to kick Williams off but Williams keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Williams sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gers defending well though. Gers looks like he's trying to stand up.

And that's the end of the fight! Bryan Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
