Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rodrigo Parga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Paul Jones!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Parga looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Parga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Parga tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.
Parga fails with the takedown
and Jones counters with a head kick.
Parga dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Parga shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jones counters with a head kick. That will keep Parga thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Parga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Parga clinches.
Jones looking to stall.
Jones has Parga pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Parga manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Parga successfully pulls guard.
Parga not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jones has gone for a leg lock! Parga slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.
Parga controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Parga trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Parga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parga wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Parga!

Parga is looking to get to half guard.
Parga slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Parga looks like he's trying to stand up.
Parga is not content to let Jones control the position.
Parga wants to get back to full guard.

Parga tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parga on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Parga tries to get out of the position.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Parga is working away.
Parga wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.
Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Parga shoots and misses
and Jones counters with a low kick, right behind Parga 's knee.
Parga is looking to clinch.
Parga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Parga shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Parga has Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but Parga avoids the damage to the body.
Parga stalls.
Jones gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Parga.

Jones has clasped his hands together around Parga's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Jones trying to control the position but Parga is working away.
Parga tries to control but Jones manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Parga has Jones up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones wants to stall.
Jones can't get the takedown.
Jones is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Parga ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Parga no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Parga wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.

Parga uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Parga throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Parga will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jones looks to clinch

so Parga counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Parga trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Parga is stalling in the full guard.
Parga sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard.
Parga tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Parga is very close to passing his half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Parga wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position.
Jones pushes Parga off looking to stand but Parga dives back in and keeps control.
Parga passes the guard and advances to mount!
Parga looking to control and managing it successfully.

Parga has control of Jones's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jones regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parga takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Parga pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Parga tries to control but Jones wriggling away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Parga raining down shots from the mount!
Parga controlling the pace for now.
Parga with shots to the head and body - Jones looks very uncomfortable down there.
Jones sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Parga is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.
Parga wants to pass the guard but Jones is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Parga fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Parga throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones throws a series of punches but Parga avoids them all with ease.

Parga closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Parga lands in his opponent's guard.
Parga stays in close to Jones's body and controls the position.
Parga trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jones is working an open guard so Parga takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jones misses with a double jab.

Parga shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Parga.
Jones has momentary wrist control but Parga slips an elbow through the middle.
Parga is stalling in the full guard.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Rodrigo Parga just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Parga moves into the clinch.

Parga jumps guard.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Parga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jones won't allow Parga to sweep him here.

Parga pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet.

Parga instigates a clinch.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.

Jones tries to stand but Parga is controlling from the bottom.
