Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Island Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Santa Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz scores with a sloppy right hand. Guy should have avoided that one.
Guy swings widly with a right hand
and Cruz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cruz's coach down at Freaky Fight Club was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Cruz's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Guy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cruz thuds his right hand into Guy's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Guy throws a right and a left that both miss.
Guy slips a straight right by Cruz.
Guy appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Cruz lands a big uppercut and Guy crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Guy looks OK. Cruz waves Guy back to his feet!
Guy is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cruz throws a pinpoint strike between Guy's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Guy crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Cruz scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Santa Cruz!
Santa Cruz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
