Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martin Vice (ranked 4020 p4p, 4844 weight class) and Zaid Owens (ranked 422 p4p, 460 weight class). Vice comes into the arena with Mojo blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zaid Owens!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Owens misses with a straight left.
Owens throws an off balance right hand
and Vice counters with a single leg into guard. Owens didn't expect that.
Vice trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Owens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vice. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Owens is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Vice is looking to work some ground and pound but Owens has wrist control.
Vice is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owens avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vice.
Vice is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Owens has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ground and pound from Vice seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Vice tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vice has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Owens is trying to improve his position.

Vice wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Owens, who protects the arm well.

Owens tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Vice is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Owens is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vice looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Vice looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Owens is avoiding damage well.
Vice goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Owens has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vice but great work by Owens.

Owens wants to control but Vice is keeping him busy.
Vice looks to move to half guard but instead Owens has passed into mount! Damn!

Vice gets back to half guard.
Vice throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Owens wants to stand up but Vice has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Vice missing with punches from the bottom.
Vice is looking for a sweep. Owens is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vice is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Owens pulls his head out easily.
Vice is looking to improve his position.
Vice manages to get to full guard.
Vice keeping moving, preventing Owens from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Owens wants to control from the top but Vice keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owens is posturing up here but Vice has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Owens tries to roll out but it's too tight and Owens has to tap! Slick submission there by Vice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Martin Vice!
