Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Van Beaken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Beaken has chosen Heart Of A Champion as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antonio Maia! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gregory Van Beaken! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maia misses with a wild combination.
Maia throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Maia tries to bum rush Van Beaken with a series of wild strikes but Van Beaken uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The fight moves into the clinch position. Van Beaken prevents the takedown attempt.
Maia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Van Beaken smiles and moves away.
Maia shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Van Beaken defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him. Van Beaken on the wrong end of a nice hook. Maia misses with a jab, cross combination.
Van Beaken throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Maia stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Van Beaken follows into mount!
Maia is rocked!
It looks like Antonio Maia has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Maia slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Oh Maia is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Maia tries to roll over but Van Beaken keeps him under control. Maia seems to have got his legs back now. Van Beaken tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Maia slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maia is looking for a triangle but Van Beaken pushes his legs off easily.
Van Beaken controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Maia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Van Beaken is aware though and is defending well. Maia is breathing heavily. Maia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Van Beaken can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Van Beaken's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Van Beaken stands and steps away. Maia gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Van Beaken lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Antonio Maia's cut is getting worse. A head kick from Van Beaken lands but Maia takes it in his stride.
Antonio Maia's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Van Beaken jabs at Maia's body. Van Beaken digs a good body shot into Maia's ribs. Van Beaken scores with a kick to the midsection. Van Beaken throws a nice head kick!
Jeez, Antonio Maia's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Antonio Maia's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Gregory Van Beaken! Gregory Van Beaken is the new heavyweight champion!
