Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Peter Piper (ranked 4209 p4p, 4811 weight class) and Alfonso Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peter Piper could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Alfonso Melendez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Piper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Alfonso Melendez! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melendez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Melendez has his takedown stuffed and Piper counters with a stiff right hand. Melendez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Melendez in particular looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melendez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melendez throws a head kick but Piper moves out of range.
Piper works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Melendez shoots for a takedown but Piper saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. An inside leg kick lands from Melendez. Melendez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Piper tries to avoid it but Melendez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Piper to the ground. Piper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Piper was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Peter Piper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfonso Melendez. Melendez throws a left and a right that both miss
and Piper counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Melendez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Melendez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Piper fires out a quick counter leg kick but Melendez just manages to avoid it. Melendez shoots in but no luck this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melendez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Piper looking to stall.

Piper tries to throw a body punch but Melendez avoids it by throwing Piper back against the cage. Melendez jumps guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Melendez is pulling down on Piper's head to control his posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Piper looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Melendez is pulling down on Piper's head. It's preventing any offense from Piper, at least for the moment. Melendez wants to get back to his feet but Piper is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Melendez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Melendez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Piper is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Melendez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Piper tries to get to full guard but Melendez has control of the leg. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Alfonso Melendez dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Piper throws a low kick, looking for Melendez's leg but Melendez calmly moves out of range. Piper keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A counter left hand to the body from Piper misses its target. Melendez tries for a takedown but Piper circles away easily and Piper counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Piper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Piper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Piper wants it to stay on the feet. Peter Piper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Melendez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Piper to the ground. Melendez is now in Piper's guard. Piper is looking to stand back up but Melendez counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Piper. Melendez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Melendez prevents Piper from improving his position. Melendez decides to stand up. Nice takedown defense from Piper. No joy for Melendez on that attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melendez lands a jab to the nose. Melendez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Piper on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Piper slips under a jab. Melendez takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Piper cracks Melendez with an open hand slap. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Melendez has his takedown stuffed and Piper connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Piper leaves Melendez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez misses with a takedown attempt and Piper counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Melendez tries for a takedown but Piper circles away easily and Piper counters with a left to the body. Melendez is breathing heavily. Piper lands a lovely overhand right. Piper throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Melendez moves into the clinch. Melendez fails to pull guard.
Melendez swings wildly with an uppercut but Piper uses good head movement to avoid it. Melendez is looking to take this one to the mat.

Melendez has Piper pushed against the cage. Melendez tries to pull guard but Piper forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Melendez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Piper pulls his leg out and moves away.
Piper slaps away a takedown attempt from Melendez, before circling back to the center of the mat. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Melendez takes a body punch but keeps moving. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Melendez throws a right and a left that both miss. Melendez on the wrong end of a nice jab. Melendez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Piper manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Piper half committed to a counter leg kick. Melendez drops his hands momentarily and Piper takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Piper scores with a nice right hand.
Piper throws a quick inside leg kick. Melendez has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. This has been an exciting period of action! Piper swats away the attempt to clinch by Melendez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez ducks right into an uppercut from Piper. Piper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Melendez can do to turn this around? Melendez tries to clinch and Piper counters with a left to the body. Melendez takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Melendez fails with the takedown and Melendez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Horrible takedown attempt by Melendez or perhaps it was just good defense by Piper, which made it look bad. Melendez fails with the takedown and Piper counters with a straight right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Piper tries to bum rush Melendez with a series of wild strikes but Melendez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Melendez lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Nice takedown defense from Piper. No joy for Melendez on that attempt. Piper quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Piper lands with a cross. Nice shot by Piper. Melendez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Piper counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Melendez has managed to clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Piper blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Melendez manages to pull guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Piper showed his dominance in that final round. I think Piper has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Peter Piper! Peter Piper opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
