Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Peart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Renner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Terry Peart looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Terry Peart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rick Renner! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peart shoots in looking for a takedown. Renner tries to sprawl out of it but Peart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Renner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Renner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Renner decides to stand back up. Renner takes the fight into the clinch. Renner blocks an uppercut.
Renner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Renner scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Peart wants to improve his position but Renner is controlling well.
Peart is breathing heavily. Renner working Peart over with strikes. Renner slows the pace down in half guard. Peart has hold of Renner's hands but Renner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peart won't allow Renner to pass to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Renner wants to stand up but Peart has a hold of him and won't allow it. Renner blocks the strikes from Peart.

Renner missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Renner prevents Peart from improving his position. Peart is working hard here to advance position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Peart throws a low kick, looking for Renner's leg but Renner calmly moves out of range. Peart tries to clinch but fails miserably and Renner counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Peart!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peart is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Renner trying to control but Peart is having none of it. Peart is desperately trying to improve his position but Renner has a good base and remains in mount. Renner breaks from Peart's wrist control and lands an elbow. Renner controlling from mount. Peart defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Renner. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Renner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Renner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peart. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Renner tries to control but Peart wriggling away. Renner in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Renner lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Renner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Peart is looking to escape. Peart tries to hold on but Renner postures up. Renner has hold of Peart's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Peart manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Rick Renner dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Peart throws a combination that misses and Renner counters with a takedown into side control. Peart is trying to improve his position. Peart taking a bit of punishment here - Renner scoring with strikes. Peart is looking to regain half guard here but Renner keeps moving and retains side control. Renner decides to stand back up. Renner steps back and let's Peart get back to his feet. Renner misses with a hook. Peart ducked under it nicely. Peart tries for a takedown but Renner circles away easily and Renner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Peart working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Renner. Renner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Renner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peart swivels though and keeps the full guard. Renner distracts Peart with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Renner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Renner wants to control from the top but Peart keeps moving. Peart throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Renner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Peart doesn't succeed with the takedown and Renner counters with a shoot takedown. Peart fights it but they end up in guard. Peart preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peart keeping moving, preventing Renner from controlling successfully. Renner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Peart is trying to keep Renner in close.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Renner's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Peart is looking to stand back up but Renner counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Peart. Renner gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peart misses with a takedown attempt and Renner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Peart's guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Terry Peart. That's going to take a lot out of him. Renner is stalling in the full guard. Peart trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Renner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Peart is trying to control the position but Renner postures up. Peart wants to sweep but no luck. Peart is trying to control the position but Renner postures up. Renner slips nicely into half guard. Peart moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Peart escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Renner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rick Renner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Peart misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Renner stuns Peart with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Renner lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Renner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Renner trying to control the position but Peart is working away. Renner is putting a hurting on Peart here, landing some big shots from side control. Renner has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Peart! Peart tries to hold on but Renner postures up. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Renner sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. BOOM! Renner connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Renner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Peart has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Renner's lack of action.
Renner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Peart is trying to stand up here but Renner is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Peart regains full guard. Nicely done. Peart is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Peart looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Peart wants to control but Renner passes easily into half guard.
Renner wants to stand but Peart has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Rick Renner has got the better of the ground game so far. Peart is trying to control but can't.
Peart moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peart trying to keep a closed guard but Renner is proving a slippery customer.
Renner won't allow Peart to sweep him here. Peart is looking for a triangle but Renner pushes his legs off easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Renner scores a takedown into full mount! Peart flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Peart really doesn't like being in this position too much.

And that's the end of the fight! Rick Renner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Renner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
