Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Catch (ranked 4750 p4p, 4384 weight class) and Kyler Rivera (ranked 430 p4p, 412 weight class). Rivera has chosen Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle) as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Benjamin Catch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyler Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Catch drives through with a takedown into guard.
Catch slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Catch working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rivera's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Catch connects with a couple of short punches.
Rivera looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Rivera is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Catch showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivera is trying to keep Catch in close.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Catch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rivera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Catch is one step ahead there.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Catch makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Catch is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Catch in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Catch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Catch with a flurry of punches that miss.
Catch controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Catch shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Catch postures up in Rivera's guard and throws a big left but Rivera blocks it.

Catch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rivera is looking for a sweep. Catch is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Catch slows the pace down in half guard.

Catch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rivera wants to sweep but Catch has passed to side control!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Rivera fails with a takedown attempt.

Catch shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rivera napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rivera wants to control but Catch postures up.
Catch controls the position.

Catch tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rivera takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rivera is trying to control Catch's posture but Catch avoids it.

Catch with the ground and pound but Rivera regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rivera keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Catch looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rivera with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Catch prevents Rivera from improving his position.

Catch is looking for a kimura here.
Catch looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Catch seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Catch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Catch working Rivera over with strikes.
Catch scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Rivera is rocked!
Catch looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Rivera is still in real trouble! Can Catch finish him?
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Catch connects with a nice short shot to Rivera's temple.
Rivera is breathing heavily.
Catch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Catch scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Catch lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Rivera quite badly. Rivera pulls Catch in close trying to recover. Catch postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Rivera on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Rivera doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Benjamin Catch!
Kyler Rivera was interviewed post fight and said 'I could have done better, and I'm disappointed in that performance I just had. But we'll get better. I just got to keep working cuh.'.
