PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Destin Craven (ranked 856 p4p, 2985 weight class) and Anti Happy (ranked 77 p4p, 236 weight class). Happy has chosen Bvana iz lagune & Mikri Maus - AntiHepi as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Anti Happy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Destin Craven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 34 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anti Happy!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Craven. Happy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Craven looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Craven throws a sloppy head kick and Happy moves out of range easily.
Happy fails with a takedown attempt.
Happy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Happy lands in his opponent's guard.
Happy looking to pass the guard.
Craven wants to stand but Happy is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Happy chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Happy lands a couple of elbows.
Happy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Happy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Craven looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Craven wants to sweep but no luck.
Craven wants to get back to his feet but Happy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Happy missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Craven manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Happy manages to get himself to full guard.
Happy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Happy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Craven defends well.

Craven wants to control from the top but Happy keeps moving.
Craven makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Craven tries to free his leg and advance position but Happy is retaining full guard.
Craven avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Craven cracks Happy with a solid left hand.

Craven is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Happy has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Craven is looking to defend but Happy has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Craven! Happy pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Craven taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Anti Happy!
Our winner, Anti Happy, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
