The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valuev takes the fight into the clinch.
Souza looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Valuev tries to break the clinch but Souza is controlling the position.
Valuev wants to get back to striking at distance but Souza won't allow it.
Valuev manages to pull guard.
Valuev trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Valuev is controlling Souza's posture.
Souza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Valuev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Valuev thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valuev will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Valuev tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Valuev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Valuev throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Valuev looking for a guillotine here but Souza defends easily.
Valuev is adopting a defensive guard.
Valuev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Valuev doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Souza is posturing up here but Valuev has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Souza tries to roll out but it's too tight and Souza has to tap! Slick submission there by Valuev!
