PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timofey Babinski (ranked 1976 p4p, 3092 weight class) and Kingsley Brown (ranked 114 p4p, 123 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Timofey Babinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Kingsley Brown!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Brown moves out of range as Babinski throws a body kick.
Brown raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Babinski ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Babinski throwing a counter right hand but Brown manages to avoid it.
Babinski throws an overhand right that lands on Brown's shoulder, as Brown tries to avoid the shot.
Brown misses with an uppercut. Babinski saw that one coming.
Brown throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Babinski lands a nice shot to the body.
Brown looks to score with a jab to the body but Babinski is just out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown throws a leg kick
and Babinski counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Kingsley Brown has been cut.
Babinski connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Brown tries to land a front kick but Babinski steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Brown uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Babinski.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brown ducks under a wild hook from Babinski.
Brown looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Brown has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Babinski's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brown under the eye.
Babinski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brown.
Babinski is looking to counter with a body kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Brown.
A shot to the body from Brown misses
and Babinski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A left and a right from Brown both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Timofey Babinski has been cut.

Babinski throws a counter high kick but Brown was just alert enough to avoid it.

Babinski lands with a nice body kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Babinski fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Brown looks winded!
Nice uppercut lands for Babinski. That snapped Brown's head back.

That has opened up Kingsley Brown's cut even more.
Jab, jab by Babinski - just one landing.

The cut above Kingsley Brown's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Brown slips under a jab from Babinski.
Brown lands a head kick. Babinski smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice uppercut there from Babinski.
Crunch! Babinski slams his shin into Brown's torso.
Babinski moves out of range as Brown strikes.
Babinski thuds his shin into the meat of Brown's side.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Babinski connects with a leg kick.
Babinski scores with a nice body kick.
Babinski thuds a left hand into Brown's body.
Brown tries to move into range but Babinski moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Babinski has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Babinski drops Brown with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Brown! Babinski dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Timofey Babinski!
