This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 50 wins and 62 losses; Anthony Lavicci! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 64 wins and 42 losses; Vasiliy Kulik!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Lavicci changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kulik tries to avoid it but Lavicci manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kulik to the ground. Kulik escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kulik shoots in and gets a takedown into Lavicci's guard.

Kulik engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Kulik passes into half guard.
Lavicci trying to hold on to Kulik's head to control him but Kulik postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lavicci wants to improve his position but Kulik is controlling well.
Kulik trying to control the action but Lavicci is working from the bottom.
Lavicci is trying to maintain the position but Kulik is very close to passing his half guard.
Lavicci has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kulik takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Kulik looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lavicci is concentrating on defense, preventing Kulik from advancing position.
Kulik content to control rather than advance.

Kulik is looking to advance position but Lavicci won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kulik in particular looking to stall.

Lavicci tries to get to full guard but Kulik has control of the leg.
Kulik looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kulik with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kulik tries to pass to full mount but Lavicci defends it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Let's hope that Kulik has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Kulik works his foot free and advances to mount.

Kulik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kulik takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kulik looking to control and managing it successfully.
It looks like Kulik might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Lavicci is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kulik fails to take his opponent's back.
Kulik has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at KFA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Lavicci is working to get back to half guard.
Kulik takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lavicci is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kulik can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lavicci is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kulik sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lavicci is trying to escape the mount.
Lavicci is controlling an arm, preventing Kulik from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Kulik trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kulik controlling from mount.
Kulik wants to take his opponent's back but Lavicci doesn't allow it.
Kulik tries to push Lavicci's head away but Lavicci is holding on tight.

Kulik prevents Lavicci from getting the reversal.
Lavicci is working hard here to advance position.
Kulik controlling the pace for now.
Kulik's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kulik wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Kulik can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lavicci is looking to escape.
Kulik is stalling here but it's allowed Lavicci to get half guard.

Kulik wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lavicci keeps working.
Lavicci trying to control from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Kulik wins on points by 5 to 0.
