Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikora Tama (ranked 1599 p4p, 1971 weight class) and Scott Thompson (ranked 203 p4p, 248 weight class). Tama comes into the arena with Haka War Dance blaring out of the sound system. Thompson has chosen Redneck Summer - Ben Hudson as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Thompson.
Tama shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompson sprawls well. He's pushed Tama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown but Tama shows good takedown defense.
Tama is looking to clinch but Thompson is avoiding it.
And Thompson tries to counter it with a takedown but Tama pushes his down on his head and steps out.

We've been hearing reports that Tama has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Thompson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tama looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

A quick step to the side and Tama tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Horrible takedown attempt by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by Tama, which made it look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tama is taking a breather. Thompson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tama dives in and grabs Thompson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thompson pushes down on Tama's head and hops out.
Thompson looks to score with a jab to the body but Tama is just out of range.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thompson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Thompson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nikora Tama overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thompson postures up in Tama's guard and throws a big left but Tama blocks it.
Thompson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Thompson is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Tama has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Thompson is looking to defend but Tama has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Thompson! Tama pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Thompson taps out and this one is all over!
