Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damian Tonon (ranked 591 p4p, 326 weight class) and Grigoriy Petrov (ranked 71 p4p, 41 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damian Tonon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 18 - 4, fighting out of New York, Grigoriy Petrov!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tonon defending well as Petrov loads up on a big left hand.
Tonon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Petrov has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Tonon swings for the body but Petrov moves out of range.
Tonon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Petrov only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Petrov works Tonon's body with a nice hook.
Tonon looks to land a left hand but Petrov moved out of range nicely.

Petrov throws out a leg kick but Tonon moves out of range and Petrov only half commits.
Petrov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tonon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tonon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Petrov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Petrov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tonon manages to avoid it.
Tonon tries for a takedown but Petrov circles away easily
and Petrov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A solid leg kick lands there for Petrov.
Tonon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Petrov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Tonon has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Petrov connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tonon's hands.

Petrov lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Tonon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Petrov as he jumps to the side.
Petrov feints a counter leg kick.

Tonon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Petrov defends it nicely.
Tonon on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Damian Tonon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Petrov will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A jab lands there for Petrov.
Tonon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Petrov was well out of range. Poor timing from Tonon.
Tonon lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Petrov fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Tonon looks to throw the jab but Petrov is out of range.

Petrov connects with a body shot that sends Tonon's belly button to the back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tonon changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tonon. Petrov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Petrov connects with a solid leg kick.
Petrov looks to score with a jab to the body but Tonon is just out of range.
Tonon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Petrov moves away.
Petrov swings for the body but Tonon moves out of range.
Tonon is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Petrov.

Petrov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Tonon with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Petrov to score with a decent uppercut.

Tonon bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A quick step to the side and Tonon tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Tonon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Petrov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Tonon takes a little break here. Petrov wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Tonon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Petrov has escaped the position, nice work there.
Petrov has one of Tonon's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Tonon works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Grigoriy Petrov dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Petrov throws a big counter head kick but Tonon avoids it with no problem.
That kick from Petrov tenderised Tonon's leg. Tonon is trying to keep his angry face on.

Tonon is stalling here. Petrov is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Tonon seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Petrov has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Tonon is keen to just control but Petrov is a slippery customer.

It seemed like Petrov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Tonon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Petrov but Petrov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tonon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Petrov defends well and Tonon ends up having to push Petrov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Tonon is looking to wear down Petrov with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Crunch! Petrov slams his shin into Tonon's torso.

It looked like Tonon was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Petrov.
Tonon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Petrov but Petrov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tonon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Petrov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tonon stays in close to Petrov's body and controls the position.

Damian Tonon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tonon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Tonon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tonon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Petrov defends it nicely.

Tonon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Petrov's guard.

Tonon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tonon is looking to work some ground and pound but Petrov has wrist control.
Petrov is adopting a defensive guard.
Tonon wants to pass the guard but Petrov is keeping the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tonon with a flurry of punches that miss.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Grigoriy Petrov.
I've got Petrov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
