Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Casey Peterson (ranked 1734 p4p, 1940 weight class) and Jonathas Araujo (ranked 166 p4p, 177 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Casey Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonathas Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Darius Henderson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo slips under a jab.

Araujo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Peterson is doing well to control the position and prevent Araujo from advancing to side control.
Araujo trying to pass the guard but Peterson defending well.

Araujo is working for a kimura but Peterson is defending it quite comfortably.

Araujo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Peterson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Araujo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Araujo is working for a submission of some sort.

Araujo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Peterson sees it coming and defends easily.
Araujo is looking to pass Peterson's guard but actually Peterson recovers to full guard.
Peterson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Araujo forces his way into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Araujo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Peterson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Araujo is just content to waste time from the top position. Peterson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Araujo advances to half guard.
Araujo works his foot free and advances to mount.
Araujo fails to take his opponent's back.
Peterson is trying to escape the mount.

Araujo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Peterson is now in Araujo's guard. A big mistake from Araujo there, giving up the dominant position!
Araujo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Araujo pulls Peterson in close to prevent any damage.

Araujo pushing down on Peterson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Araujo is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Peterson reverses the position - he's now on top in Araujo's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Araujo is on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Peterson can't keep his opponent in guard - Araujo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Araujo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Araujo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Peterson sprawls well initially but Araujo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Peterson won't allow Araujo to pass to mount.

Jonathas Araujo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Peterson looking for a guillotine here but Araujo defends easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Peterson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Araujo wants to control but Peterson is keeping him busy.

Araujo is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Peterson still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Peterson has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Araujo tries to buck Peterson off but Peterson is having none of it.
Araujo keeps trying to improve his position.
Araujo sneaks back into half guard.

Peterson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Peterson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Peterson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Araujo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Peterson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Araujo tries to hold on but Peterson pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jonathas Araujo will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Peterson takes the fight into the clinch.
Peterson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Peterson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Araujo backwards.
Araujo goes for a takedown attempt but Peterson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Peterson tries to clinch there but Araujo circles away.

Peterson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Peterson trying to control the position but Araujo is working away.

Araujo is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Araujo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Peterson tries to score with some ground and pound. Araujo controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Peterson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Araujo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Peterson but great work by Araujo.

Araujo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Peterson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Araujo tries to advance to mount but Peterson denies him.

Araujo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Peterson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Araujo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Araujo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Araujo keeping hold of Peterson's head, controlling as best he can.
Peterson is looking to take a break and control but Araujo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Peterson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Jonathas Araujo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Araujo preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Casey Peterson.
I think Araujo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
