Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gus Jackson (ranked 2046 p4p, 2099 weight class) and Jimar Kinkead (ranked 248 p4p, 256 weight class). Kinkead comes into a darkened arena with his song building. No Sunshine kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gus Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimar Kinkead! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kinkead closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Kinkead looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kinkead prevents Jackson from improving his position. Still in half guard, Kinkead seems content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It looks like Kinkead might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Kinkead is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is looking to control Kinkead's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted? Jackson wants to improve his position but Kinkead is controlling well.
Kinkead is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kinkead. Kinkead is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jackson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kinkead pulls his head out easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jackson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kinkead not doing much here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kinkead darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kinkead is working away from the top position though. Kinkead sitting and controlling from the half guard. Jackson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kinkead is working for a submission of some sort.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.
Kinkead keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Kinkead is retaining full guard. Kinkead has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jackson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kinkead is keeping the position for now. And that is the end of the round. Jackson throws a big counter combination but Kinkead scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Kinkead keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kinkead feints the counter takedown. Kinkead closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Kinkead pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Some wild striking there from Jackson.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kinkead prevents Jackson from moving into mount. Jackson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kinkead is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Kinkead tries to bench press Jackson off him but Jackson keeps the position. Jackson is trying to get an arm triangle but Kinkead is defending well. Kinkead gets back to half guard. Kinkead is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kinkead has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad The Island. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kinkead has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though. Jackson is keen to just control but Kinkead is a slippery customer. Jackson is stalling here. Kinkead is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jackson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kinkead has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Jackson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kinkead's best efforts. Kinkead throws a strike but Jackson avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Kinkead postures up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gus Jackson will probably get the nod. That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Kinkead shoots in and drives through. Jackson sprawls well. Kinkead throws a poor cross that misses
and Jackson counters with a nice uppercut. Jackson lands a jab to the head.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Kinkead backpedaling.
It looks like Jimar Kinkead has been cut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kinkead shoots for a takedown but Jackson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kinkead manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jackson on his heels. He'll look to pass Jackson's guard now, I'm sure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson controls Kinkead momentarily but Kinkead frees himself. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gus Jackson. I think Jackson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
