Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Deanthony Pederson (ranked 92 p4p, 372 weight class) and Rock Jay (ranked 13 p4p, 47 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Deanthony Pederson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rock Jay!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay looks to land a left hand but Pederson moved out of range nicely.
Pederson tries for a takedown but Jay circles away easily
and Jay counters with a nice uppercut.
A telegraphed right hand from Pederson misses the target.
Pederson shoots in but Jay avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pederson misses with a body shot.
Pederson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jay pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Pederson back to the cage. Jay follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Pederson misses the shot to the body.
Pederson has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deanthony Pederson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pederson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jay counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Pederson loads up on a big right hand but Jay slips the punch.
Jay stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Jay has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Jay uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pederson.
Jay misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pederson.
Pederson looks to throw a body kick
and Jay counters with a thumping low kick.

Pederson misses with a takedown
and Jay counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pederson thinking.

Pederson tries for a takedown but Jay circles away easily
and Jay counters with a low kick, right behind Pederson 's knee.
Jay swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jay scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Rock Jay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pederson shoots for a double leg takedown but Jay sprawls well. He's pushed Pederson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pederson misses with an uppercut
and Jay connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Pederson throws a jab but it's blocked by Jay.
Jay was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Jay throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A swing and a miss from Pederson.
Pederson connects with a single shot there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jay tries to clinch up.

Pederson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jay looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Pederson gets to mount! Jay was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Pederson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jay is bucking up trying to escape but Pederson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Pederson looking to secure an arm triangle but Jay defends it well.
Jay is squirming around, avoiding Pederson's attempts to control the action.
Jay tries to hold on but Pederson pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pederson with a couple of short strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pederson looking to control but Jay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Pederson looking to secure an arm triangle but Jay defends it well.
Pederson loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Jay scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Pederson land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Pederson stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Deanthony Pederson!

Deanthony Pederson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
