The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Drelas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Drelas (2) vs (0) Wagner Wagner tries to get to full guard but Drelas has control of the leg. Drelas tries to pass to full mount but Wagner defends it. Drelas wants to control but Wagner is keeping him busy. Wagner slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Drelas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wagner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Drelas looking to pass the guard. Drelas stays in close to Wagner's body and controls the position. Drelas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wagner tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drelas controls from within his opponent's guard. Wagner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Drelas is one step ahead there. Drelas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Drelas trying to control but Wagner is working from the bottom. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Wagner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Drelas is looking for a sweep. Wagner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Drelas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wagner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wagner's back! That's three minutes gone in the round. Wagner trying to control the action but Drelas just sinks the hooks in. Drelas tries to get the hooks in deep but Wagner pushed the leg off. Wagner defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Drelas's arms. Drelas is persistently looking for the submission but Wagner is defending it well.
Drelas has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. You can see the frustration on Wagner's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Drelas looking to break Wagner's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Wagner remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Drelas will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Drelas has the hooks in. Wagner is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Drelas passes his arm under Wagner's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over!
