The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Madden fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Madden instigates a clinch. Madden goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wagner prevents it.
Madden jumps into guard, dragging Wagner to the mat.
Wagner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Madden controls Wagner momentarily but Wagner frees himself. Wagner trying to control but Madden is working from the bottom. Madden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Wagner (0) vs (2) Madden We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Madden is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wagner is just riding it out for now. Madden eventually gives up the hold. Wagner trying to control here.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Madden in particular looking to stall. Madden seems to be working for a kimura but Wagner defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Madden is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura.
