The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Craig closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Craig is refusing to be controlled, as Ribeiro sits in half guard.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Craig tries to roll over but Ribeiro keeps him under control. Ribeiro is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Craig defends it well. Ribeiro is trying to control. Craig wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Craig has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ribeiro is working away from the top position though. Ribeiro is looking to take a break and control but Craig is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Craig is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Ribeiro stalling. Ribeiro is trying to control the action in half guard but Craig is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ribeiro uses his free foot to push down on Craig's thigh. That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Ribeiro can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Craig is looking to escape. Ribeiro is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Craig is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Craig working to try and regain half guard.
