Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Song (ranked 3892 p4p, 5668 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 302 p4p, 364 weight class). The key to victory for Jacob Song has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Song!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Smith!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Song as Smith shoots in.

Song drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Song swings around for an armbar but Smith sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Song's guard.
Song really is a fat lump.
Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Song is proving hard to escape from.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Song has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Song's legs - danger averted.
Smith stands up over Song, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
It looks like Smith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Song. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Song gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Smith wants to stand and escape but instead Song has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

James Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Song's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Song swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Song closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Song is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
James Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Song shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.

Song seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt.

Jacob Song showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
