Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bosko Buha (ranked 4523 p4p, 4497 weight class) and Richard Carter (ranked 475 p4p, 473 weight class). Carter has chosen "Not a Drill" as his entrance music. Richard Carter is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buha misses with a looping left.
Carter looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carter cracks a nice hook into Buha's ribs.

Carter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Buha was well out of range. Poor timing from Carter.

Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Buha circles away quickly and effectively.

It looked like Buha wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Carter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Buha stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Buha needs to keep his hands up - Carter had a free shot at his head there.

Buha fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carter looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Buha lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Carter sprawling to the canvas. Buha follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Carter hang on?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Buha is looking for a kimura but Carter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Buha to get the leverage.
Carter felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Buha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground.

Buha got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Buha has managed to get both his arms back between Carter's legs - danger averted.
Carter has Buha pulled in close to control his posture.

Carter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Carter in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.
