Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between even DAWSON (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin McDermott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, even DAWSON! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Colin McDermott! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDermott displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from DAWSON. DAWSON fails miserably with a takedown attempt. McDermott closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming DAWSON to the mat! DAWSON manages to get full guard. DAWSON knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McDermott on the ground. DAWSON keeping moving, preventing McDermott from controlling successfully. DAWSON really is a fat lump. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McDermott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. DAWSON has his feet on McDermott's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. DAWSON fails with the takedown and McDermott counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in DAWSON's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for even DAWSON. That's going to take a lot out of him. McDermott is fighting to break DAWSON's control of his arms but DAWSON is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. McDermott tries to free his leg and advance position but DAWSON is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDermott postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. McDermott is looking to advance position but DAWSON has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! DAWSON controlling the pace for now. McDermott has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. DAWSON get's back to his feet. DAWSON misses with a looping left. DAWSON has his takedown stuffed and McDermott counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. McDermott works his foot free and advances to mount. McDermott looking to control but DAWSON is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McDermott working for a guillotine from mount but DAWSON is in no mood to give up. McDermott has hold of DAWSON's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and DAWSON manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
McDermott looks gassed!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. McDermott goes for an armbar but he's not got it… DAWSON turns into him and now he's in McDermott's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! DAWSON gets to his feet. McDermott looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's three minutes gone in the round. DAWSON shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McDermott manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. DAWSON controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. McDermott is looking for a triangle but DAWSON pushes his legs off easily.
DAWSON has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McDermott is proving hard to escape from. McDermott keeping moving, preventing DAWSON from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDermott is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DAWSON stands and steps away. McDermott gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. DAWSON throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and McDermott decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in DAWSON's guard. DAWSON is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McDermott is controlling him. DAWSON keeping moving, preventing McDermott from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McDermott drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but DAWSON manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McDermott has DAWSON in his guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! DAWSON trying to control the position from guard on top but McDermott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McDermott with a poor takedown and DAWSON counters with a nice double leg into half guard. McDermott wants to improve his position but DAWSON is controlling well.
DAWSON trying to control the pace. McDermott is refusing to be controlled, as DAWSON sits in half guard. McDermott tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. McDermott is breathing heavily. McDermott is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. DAWSON trying to control the action but McDermott is working from the bottom. DAWSON trying to control the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. DAWSON wants to take a breather but McDermott is having none of it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. No luck for DAWSON with that takedown attempt. Colin McDermott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McDermott keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
McDermott tries for a takedown but DAWSON circles away easily and DAWSON counters with a takedown into side control. DAWSON wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McDermott, who protects the arm well. McDermott manages to work his way to half guard, despite DAWSON's best efforts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. McDermott manages to regain full guard. Nice work. McDermott is looking for a triangle but DAWSON pushes his legs off easily.
DAWSON wants to control from the top but McDermott keeps moving. DAWSON wanted to stand there but McDermott had control of the position. DAWSON trying to control the position from guard on top but McDermott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McDermott is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! DAWSON rolls with it to try and escape but McDermott cranks on the arm and DAWSON is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
