The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garrison wants to clinch.
De Brendt thinks about the counter body kick.

De Brendt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Garrison's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Brendt stops Garrison from standing up.
Garrison has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

De Brendt is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
De Brendt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Garrison works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

De Brendt drops back looking for a leg! Garrison is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Garrison manages to kick De Brendt off! De Brendt jumps back into Garrison's guard.
Garrison wants to stand up but De Brendt is controlling him.

De Brendt thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

De Brendt drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. De Brendt seems to have locked his on tight now - Garrison screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for De Brendt, as he picks up the win!
