Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Justice Washington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Malakai Rios! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Washington closes the distance and pushes Rios back into the cage. Rios looking to stall.
Washington manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Rios successfully pulls guard.
Washington tries to free his leg and advance position but Rios is retaining full guard. Rios looking to control.
Rios wants to sweep here but Washington controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Washington looking to sit in guard and control but Rios gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Washington is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rios got a little sloppy there for a moment and Washington has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rios has managed to get both his arms back between Washington's legs - danger averted. Washington definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rios is sitting in close to Washington's body. Washington has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Rios is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Rios is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Washington.
