This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 55 wins and 34 losses; Tyron Scott! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 56 wins and 71 losses; Boris Balkan! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and James Glass.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Balkan looking to score a takedown here. Scott is defending well but Balkan drives through and ends up in Scott's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Scott (0) vs (2) Balkan Balkan being controlled here momentarily. Balkan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Balkan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott pulls Balkan in to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Balkan looking to control the position here, rather than advance. That's one minute gone in the round. Scott is pulling down on Balkan's head. It's preventing any offense from Balkan, at least for the moment. Balkan passes easily into side control. Nice work. My spies in Blacktalians MMA inform me that Balkan has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Balkan taking a breather here. Scott tries to improve position but can't. Balkan tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Scott tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Balkan working away. Balkan trying to control the action but Scott is working from the bottom. Scott regains half guard there - taking advantage of Balkan's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Scott is refusing to be controlled, as Balkan sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well, if Balkan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Balkan trying to control the hands but Scott won't let him. Balkan controlling Scott 's hands. Balkan wants to escape the position.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Balkan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Scott keeps control of the position easily here as Balkan tries to buck him off.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Balkan's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Balkan breaks Scott's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Scott (4) vs (7) Balkan Balkan trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Balkan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Scott looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Balkan stays in close to Scott's body and controls the position. Let's hope that Balkan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Balkan looking to pass the guard. Scott is controlling Balkan's posture. Balkan passes into half guard. Balkan wants to take a breather but Scott is having none of it.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Balkan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Balkan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Scott keeping full guard, as Balkan tries to pass. Scott seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Scott has Balkan pulled in close to control his posture.

Balkan looking to sit in guard and control but Scott gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Scott (6) vs (7) Balkan Scott is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Balkan wants to sweep but no luck. Scott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Balkan trying to control the position.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Balkan has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Scott has passed into side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: Scott (9) vs (7) Balkan Balkan is trying to improve his position. Balkan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Balkan wants to control but Scott is keeping busy.
Balkan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Balkan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Scott slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Scott (12) vs (7) Balkan Scott working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Scott taking a break here but Balkan is having none of it and regains half guard. Balkan is looking to control Scott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Balkan avoid being mounted?
