This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 14 losses; Ceferino Garcia! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 20 losses; Nate Pawn! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pawn rushes Garcia and presses him up against the ropes. Pawn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Garcia avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Pawn can't get the takedown.
Pawn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Garcia smiles and moves away.
Ceferino Garcia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Pawn. Garcia gets a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pawn is looking to take this one to the mat. Pawn's coach down at The Factory was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Pawn's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Pawn has clasped his hands together around Garcia's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia can't do much from the bottom here. Garcia is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Garcia's coaches at Gonzasco Hydropathy have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. You can see the frustration on Garcia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pawn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Garcia, who protects the arm well. Garcia tries to buck Pawn off but Pawn is having none of it.

Garcia gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Garcia is holding on to half guard well. Pawn wants to free his trapped foot but Garcia is holding on for dear life with his legs. Pawn is fighting to break Garcia's control of his arms but Garcia is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Garcia has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. More hug and hope from Garcia. Pawn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Garcia pulls Pawn in close to prevent any damage. Pawn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Garcia is pulling down on Pawn's head to control his posture. Garcia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pawn manages to get himself to full guard.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Pawn won't allow Garcia to pass to mount. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pawn wants to get back to full guard. Garcia performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pawn wants to control but Garcia is keeping busy.

Score +3 for taking back: Garcia (8) vs (4) Pawn Pawn just trying to survive but Garcia is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Garcia has good solid back control here. Pawn trying to control the action but Garcia just sinks the hooks in. Garcia biding his time, controlling Pawn. This is a sustained period of stalling by Garcia.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Pawn trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Garcia trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Pawn doesn't escape.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Garcia gets his hands free as Pawn looks to control. Pawn is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Garcia.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Garcia biding his time, controlling Pawn. Garcia's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Garcia continues to hold on tight. Pawn trying to control the action but Garcia just sinks the hooks in.
