Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edward Rice (ranked 3570 p4p, 4586 weight class) and Juan Bertino (ranked 413 p4p, 487 weight class). Bertino comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Juan Martha kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Juan Bertino has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Rice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Bertino! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bertino!
Bertino tries to clinch but Rice moves out of range. An attempted straight right counter from Rice misses the target. Rice lands a glancing blow to the side of Bertino's head. The fight moves into the clinch position. The referee is keeping an eye on Rice - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Bertino can't break the clinch.
Rice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rice circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bertino tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Rice counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bertino misses with a few strikes there.
Rice is looking for a counter combo. The fight stays on the outside here - Bertino looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Rice tried to counter with a leg kick but Bertino avoided it. Bertino tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rice paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bertino swats away the attempt to clinch by Rice. Bertino throws a series of punches but Rice avoids them all with ease. Bertino fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rice throwing a counter right hand but Bertino manages to avoid it. Bertino darts in trying to clinch letting Rice counter with a right hand. Bertino throws a series of strikes that have Rice backpedaling.
Rice throws a sloppy head kick and Bertino moves out of range easily. Bertino keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rice closes the distance and pushes Bertino back into the cage. Rice looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Rice looks to throw an elbow but misses. Bertino blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rice has Bertino pressed against the cage.
Rice lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice breaks from the clinch.
Bertino fails with an attempt to clinch.
It looked like Rice was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Rice has Bertino up against the cage in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rice lands a knee to the body.
Rice scores with a hook to the body. Bertino wants to get back to striking at distance but Rice won't allow it.
Come on Rice - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Rice tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bertino avoids it. Rice lands a good knee to the midsection. Bertino won't want to take too many of those.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bertino wants a takedown but no success here.
Rice is stalling here.
Rice has Bertino pressed against the cage.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Rice for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Rice tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bertino avoids it. Rice stalls. Bertino has a couple of punches blocked by Rice.

Bertino tries to break the clinch but Rice is controlling the position. Bertino blocks a body shot from Rice.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rice is pushing Bertino up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Rice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bertino closes the distance but Rice moves to the side and Rice counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Juan Bertino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bertino fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rice is defended easily by Bertino. Bertino tries to clinch but Rice moves away and Rice counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Rice has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rice with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Edward Rice dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Bertino throws a body shot but no joy. Bertino has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rice tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bertino's elbow. Rice has had enough of the clinch but Bertino keeps him there for the moment. Rice manages to break the clinch.

Rice drives through with a takedown into Bertino's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Bertino wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rice manages to pass to side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bertino is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rice working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rice is taking a breather. Bertino says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Rice is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Rice uses his free foot to push down on Bertino's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bertino. Rice is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bertino has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Bertino takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Rice controlling his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rice raining down shots from the mount! Rice looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Rice working for a guillotine from mount but Bertino is in no mood to give up. Edward Rice overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rice sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Rice's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bertino is looking to get to half guard. Bertino is breathing heavily. Rice landing shots from mount. Rice controlling the pace for now. Rice breaks from Bertino's wrist control and lands an elbow. Rice scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Bertino?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rice looking to control and managing it successfully. Rice in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Bertino is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Bertino is bucking up trying to escape but Rice cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rice cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rice takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rice landing strikes from the mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rice cracks Bertino with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bertino is rocked! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Edward Rice dominated that second round. That's time! Rice's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Bertino has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rice. Bertino is still on wobbly legs! Can Rice finish him? Bertino bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Rice comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Bertino falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Bertino was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Edward Rice! Edward Rice bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it. Juan Bertino was interviewed post fight and said 'Remember my name hijo de puta cartel'.
