The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okafor lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Carlton Smithers has been cut.
Okafor uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smithers.
Oh Smithers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Okafor cracks Smithers with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Okafor has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Smithers to stand back up!
The crowd cheers as Smithers lands an impressive looking overhand right. Okafor doesn't seem phased though.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Okafor takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Okafor's corner calls for a 1-2. Okafor obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Okafor drops Smithers with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Smithers looks back up at him and smiles so Okafor waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Smithers takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Okafor takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Smithers is looking to chop away at Okafor's legs.

Okafor fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smithers, pushing him back against the ropes.

Moses Okafor was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
