Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Gurgel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hrvoje Kovacevic!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovacevic missing with a left hand there. Gurgel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kovacevic shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gurgel eats them both and turns towards Kovacevic to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Fabio Gurgel has been cut.
Gurgel uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kovacevic.
Gurgel drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kovacevic sprawls and moves away.
Gurgel tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kovacevic sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gurgel somewhat.
Kovacevic scores with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kovacevic throws an overhand right that lands on Gurgel's shoulder, as Gurgel tries to avoid the shot.
Gurgel tries to counter with a takedown but Kovacevic is quick to defend against it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kovacevic throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gurgel tries to counter by clinching up but Kovacevic breaks away and moves out of range.
Good standup being displayed there by Kovacevic as he connects with a hook.
Gurgel shoots in looking for a takedown. Kovacevic tries to sprawl out of it but Gurgel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kovacevic manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
It seemed like Kovacevic was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kovacevic keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kovacevic is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gurgel.
Kovacevic looks to land a right hand but Gurgel moved out of range.
Kovacevic looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hrvoje Kovacevic is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A shot to the liver by Kovacevic. Beautiful body shot.
Hrvoje Kovacevic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kovacevic moves into range and connects with a jab.
Gurgel gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Kovacevic points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Gurgel wakes up just in time to hear Kovacevic thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Hrvoje Kovacevic!
An out of breath Hrvoje Kovacevic thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
