Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Newton (ranked 2753 p4p, 1528 weight class) and Dimche Rajcevski (ranked 319 p4p, 201 weight class). Isaac Newton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Isaac Newton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dimche Rajcevski!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton tries to close the distance and clinch but Rajcevski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rajcevski throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Newton appears to be looking for a big counter.
Newton misses with a right hand

and Rajcevski counters with a shoot takedown. Newton fights it but they end up in guard.

Rajcevski slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rajcevski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Newton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rajcevski slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Rajcevski fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Newton avoids it really well and circles away.
Rajcevski avoids the head kick by Newton.
Rajcevski shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Newton sprawls well. Newton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rajcevski gets slowly back to his feet.

Newton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Newton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rajcevski throws a hook but Newton avoids it easily.
Rajcevski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Rajcevski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rajcevski is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Newton looking for submissions off his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've been hearing good reports from Newton's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rajcevski looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Newton is refusing to be controlled, as Rajcevski sits in half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Newton is looking for a sweep. Rajcevski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rajcevski seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Newton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rajcevski swings for the body but Newton moves out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Newton looks to throw the jab but Rajcevski is out of range.
Isaac Newton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rajcevski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Newton moves away.
Rajcevski has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Newton throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Rajcevski.
Rajcevski throws an overhand right that lands on Newton's shoulder, as Newton tries to avoid the shot.
Newton connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Rajcevski scores with a crisp jab that stopped Newton in his tracks.
Newton looks to score with a jab to the body but Rajcevski is just out of range.
Rajcevski will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

This has been an exciting period of action!

A relieved looking Dimche Rajcevski thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
